Using the Obi Belt pattern, whipped up this gathered pencil skirt
Originally planned this skirt to be full and gathered, but instead began removing the volume, resulting in an emergency back slit!
Also had to sew in some darts after attaching the skirt to the belt, adding a nice detail I think of faux pockets, because it was too gathered.
Herringbone cotton, light weight – Fusible interfacing in waist band (first time use!) and black bias tape, slit in back was needed after the first fitting, so had to open the seam and finish with tape
First time using bias tape too!

This is gorgeous! I like it better than the full skirt. Narrow skirts work much better on me.

I love this fabric. The waist of this pattern is great and the belt is a very nice detail.

Very nice! Pencil skirts are a classic, but you make it even better with the high waist and bow! Love the type of fabric you chose. It’s perfect for fall. :)

This is lovely. I absolutely love the effect the darts gave it. Would love to see the back of it.

You’re right I should have photographed the back, maybe some time in the future.
to give you an idea, I had to add the same darts to the back, and bias taped the hem which was continuous through the last minute added slit.
