A while ago I came across the “fuse plastic bags”-technique
(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sB1mE8e35UY&NR=1&feature=fvwp).
The result is amzing material! It looks a little bit like leather and is super sturdy.
It took me some time (and nerves!!) to get the right amount of material to cover the whole notebook. I cut the pieces into rectangles, overlapped them and sewed them togehter with a zigzag stitch. Then I added two layers of grey fleece and sewed the whole thing together at the sides.
plastic bags, fleece, velcro

thanks to you all!:-) I didn’t use those thin drugstore bags, but thicker ones from a fashion store. So I only used 5 or six layers of plastic …You have to do some trial and error to find the perfect amount! There weren’t any problems sewing the plastic rectangles together, but when I sewed the sides of the bag (then there were 4 layers of fleece and two layers of playstic) it was slightly too thick! I had to use the balance wheel (? handwheel? the thing at the side of the machine to operate the needle by hand);-) to sew them slowly and carefully together.

cool, and well done too, perfect for your computer while still looking stylish. How many layers thick is the plastic? and how was it on your machine, any broken needles?
