Beyond the color, there are some similarities between this linen dress and the concoction that Molly Ringwald wore in “Pretty in Pink.” Primarily that it took a lot of hacking and trial and error to make it, and it still looks a little frumpy.
I love the front, hate the back, and am not sure how much I’ll wear it. I made it for last week’s Sew Weekly challenge (UFOs: un-finished objects).

I think it looks lovely. I particularly like the ruffle around the neck line.

I think it looks fine and the colour is amazing. However, it looks as though you could take a bit off the shoulder seams at the back to good effect. Quite frankly, if it were mine I’d wear it as it is.

I LOVE the front of your dress! Yes, the back is a little wonky, but not beyond repair I would imagine:) The colour is divine & the neckline is so good… Well done!

Thanks! I guess it’s worth going back to fix the back:)

Mmm. I’d say lack of interfacing along the zipper opening caused distortion/waving. You might be able to save it with taking out the zipper, a good press to make it flat, then interfacing (1/2" fusible strip) then basting before re-sewing. I’d be worth it, it’s so good in the front :-).

Ah, this is a great suggestion. I thought it might be buckling because the bodice is a little too long in the back (which I thought might be causing the ill fit on the sides). But maybe some interfacing would help with getting that zipper to lay flat. I also need to fix those slapdash darts I put into the shoulders (which are now poking out!). Thanks for the suggestion!

Thanks so much! I should just wear it standing against a wall, so no one can see the back:)
