It’s getting warmer here in the South, and I needed something to lounge in while staying cool. I found this cute star print for $1.99 a yard and I had to have it. I used the Simplicity 3696 pattern, View E; but shortened it a tad. I actually took time to serge-stitch the inside seams and topstitch the side seams, which made it look really nice. It was a breeze to put together.
I recently learned how to make welt pockets (trial and error), and have absolutely fallen in love with them. So, I decided to add one in the back of the shorts (a nice place to put my iPod when I’m busy doing something). I also stitched a faux-drawstring ribbon to the waist and two little decorative buttons to the sides of the legs. I love wearing these around the house, and I loved making them!
3/4 yard of blue star-printed cotton, 1/2 yard of periwinkle satin ribbon, a 4″ × 3″ scrap of blue satin (for welt pocket), four 1/2" blue buttons, 1 yard of 1/2" elastic. Total cost of this project was only $2.00!

Very cool! They look really comfortable. Your ring is awesome – where did you get it?

Actually, my little sister gave it to me for Christmas. She has one that goes with it that’s in gold and is in the shape of C3PO! =D I wear my R2-D2 ring all the time.

How nice :) I definitely need to get one of those – I’m a huge fan of Star Wars, too.
