the sew weekly burda dress & apron challenge, sans apron. i really wanted to play by the rules and make the burda dress in black as per the challenge… i had all intentions of dying it black (i don’t have a lick of it in my stash), but, well… leopard print is FUN.
swing by oonaballoona for a cocktail, different pics (including the apron) & a wee story:
oonaballona: how nice of you to drop by
silky-ish leopard print (it was gifted, so no clue). exposed gold metal zip. i added the exposed zip upon realizing the bodice was too tight, giving myself another half inch:). it may have been too tight because i cut it too small. and forgot the lining. hooray for the much debated exposed zip!

Wow you work so fast. Your dress looks verry nice with the exposed zipper! When I saw the pattern in Burda magazine I liked it right away, but your version has more “edge”. Nice!

heh, actually this dress took A LOT longer than it should have— mainly because i traced the pattern without seam allowance. which was awesome. :)

..and so you add a new function to an exposed zip, fab! :)) loved to discover new photos here, it’s a great versatile dress in both versions:)
