This is based off a simplicity pattern. I moved the zip from the side seam to center back and shortened the waist to fit me better. I also used a rolled hem on the neck ruffle using wooly nylon which gives a great edge. I wore this in the 2nd row of an NBA game and was told by a player on the opposing team that I needed botox… I think he was just jealous of the dress!
Oh, and here is the same dress in a textured teal… FUN.
Silk. Wooly Nylon.

Both these versions are just gorgeous, and I’ve been eyeing off the pattern for months now. I’m about to start this dress and it has so much ease according to the pattern pieces I’m unsure what size to cut, could you tell me your sizing opinion please ?

Love your dress, I’m thinking of making one and I don’t like side zippers either, how did you do the ruffle at the back with the zip? Did it work out ok?

this is a beautiful job! esp in the textured teal! :) What do you mean shortened the waist? making the waist higher? I like just how you made the dress!

I shortened the waist because I am short waisted, so every pattern I need to alter by at least 1". The good thing about having a short waist: it makes your legs look longer!! HA.

michelle, I like your thinking! I will have to do that for the bridesmaids dresses that I am in process of making! :)

He was clearly blind and unable to appreciate your wonderful dress!

I guess I didn’t mention in the description that I was heckeling him a bit… perhaps slightly more than a bit!
