Not a red Christmas dress

This is the non-sleeved version of V8486, made up in fully lined silk satin. I made some minor changes to the pattern, which are documented on on my new blog (www.upsewlate.blogspot.com). Overall I’m very happy with the dress but I didn’t end up wearing it on Christmas Day because I realised on Christmas Eve that it would be too dressy for our family gathering.

Material Notes

Silk satin plus turquoise lining from Tessuti fabrics in Sydney

Thanks – actually I’m toying with wearing it tomorrow night for new year’s eve… Yes, it is amazing fabric! When I saw it in the shop I just had to buy some even though I didn’t have an exact pattern in mind; and then I just had to make it into something quickly too!

Your dress looks wonderful! The silk is to die for and the pattern doesn’t disperse the design of the fabric.

Thank you irmchen, it is a great fabric – it had to have a really simple dress design… In the end I’m really happy with this dress (although along the way I certainly had some doubts, as for a while it was looking just like a sack).
