Burda Style For people who sew
Description
Our lovely co-founder Nora recently attended the 2010 Endeavor Gala honoring the Founding Team of Gilt Groupe as High-Impact Entrepreneurs of the Year. Nora loves to dance so we modified this garment to include extra room at the back and also lengthened the sleeves. We had fun with our film camera taking photos of her. Doesn’t she look ravishing in her eponymous gown done in this dusty deep reddish blue silk shantung?

5 yards of silk shantung, 5 yards of silk charmeuse, 3 1/2 yards of embroidered trim, horsehair braid, 8 hooks and eyes, 1 button

Very attractive.
For me, I can envision deep, contrasting jewel tones perhaps with a shorter underlayer of some beaded lace fabric peeking through. Not that I’m anywhere near experienced enough to sew it myself. ;-D

I love this colour combo – and I LOVE the tights Nora is wearing! They are cool and extremely well coordinated.
