Description

My name is Katja and I am a re-fashionista :-)
I cleaned out my closet, and so did my husband, and I made a maxi-dress for zero money using nine old shirts…
I kept as many original details as possible, collar and buttons/buttonholes, hems, pockets… The dress has two slits at the side-front which can be unbuttoned as far up as I feel like :-), and I made a belt using the buttons and button holes from one of the blouses… Every single piece in this dress used to be part of a shirt. Well, except for the bias-tape I used to tidy up the insides.

What a great idea, I have several old shirts and was wandering what to do with them – thanks for the idea. Your dress looks fantastic!

This is fantastic! Love the idea of using cast offs for another purpose.

My most favorite projects are re-fashioning cloth. This is a WOW idea and great dress. It looks very comfortable and pretty. I am inspired for my next project. It takes an artist to see something like this in ordinary boring shirts

I showed your dress to the students at my fashion college and everyone loved it!!! Sorry, but everyone wants to copy the idea… not exactly the same, but lots of us have unworn shirts in the house. Thank you for the inspiration. xxx

What an amazing job! The dress looks fabulous, and doesn’t look refashioned at all – looks like something new that you would pay good money for… And on top of that, I totally envy your toned arms…

This is wonderful – a really clever way to use old shirts and a spectacular result. I have a large bag of old shirts which need recycling. Unfortunately, I don’t think there’s a chance I could come up with anything like this.
