I used the nichola pants pattern and altered it to a skirt pattern. There are darts at the waist, which are covered by the pockets. I also made jeans-style pockets in front, and omitted the buttons on the tabs. I just sewed them down instead. Also, as with the pants, I used the flat hook and eye closure instead of making a buttonhole, and for the pockets, used iron-on velcro tape for fasteners.
