Description

I was excited to make the Nichola pants, as the low-rise sleek cut tends to suit me. A muslin fitting revealed very few adjustments to be made – just a little addition to the hip side seams and some height reduction to the top of the pants to remove droopiness at the waist. I completed these without the belt loop latches and back pockets to keep them sleek and more dressy. I love how they turned out!

I would consider this pattern suitable for a novice, except for the fly front. The fly front instructions were extremely confusing so I referred to the tutorial from Diane Deziel.

Material Notes

100% Italian wool suiting from Darrell Thomas Textiles

This pant pattern lends well to many fabrics – I would try it in tweed, corduroy, thick cotton with a slight stretch, possibly even in linen! This makes it a year-round pattern.
