This is one of two dresses I made for my best friend from college for her birthday/Christmas. She spent Christmas away from home this year so I thought I’d send her something extra special! I used the bodice of Vogue 8511, and then used a large (about 100 inches around) gathered rectangle to make the skirt and put the zipper in the side instead of the back. I had trouble inserting the side zipper without messing up the gathers so that took a few tries, but otherwise the pattern was pretty simple and it came together pretty well. It was fun to make because I knew she would like it and it would suit her style well, and I had the added pleasure of getting to see how nice it looked on her via Skype!
It is underlined mint-colored lace from fabric.com. The lining/underlining is a similarly colored jersey.
30 select jacket and coat patterns are now marked down to $3.99.
