Description

Ok, so I’ve set myself a bit of a New Year’s Resolution, apart from the usual sew more, unpick less, I’ve also challenged myself to make more “outfits”, items that go together because I have a super bad habit of making something colourful that I love but goes with nothing else I own. So I need to build up my “basics” as well as these items and also I am completely over my wardrobe so I really want to re-invent myself through my sewing. Here are my first two items towards my overall goal. First up, a new blouse:

And I LOVE this blouse, it’s a great pattern to sew, I love the shape and I love fit, I can see myself making a few more of these, in more neutrals and coloured also. I omitted the bow but I love the hidden button detail even though it confused me to the point of stopping (My English Burda mag doesn’t refer to the “hidden” detail at all, it just mentions the button band and then another button band! But a review on patternreview.com helped me work it out) I think the puffy sleeves are super cute and I’d love to try cutting the bib piece on the bias or using some contrast piping and maybe even a sheer version.

Oooo! Nice resolution! I like the shirt/skirt combo, how both garments are perfect basics, but in combination they make out a really nice outfit!
