Burda Style For people who sew

Description

This jacket copies a look from Richard Nicoll SS09, where he showed a blazer with a color blocked bottom part and I loved it. I used a Burda pattern (see bar on the right side) where I eliminated the additional shoulder and back seams and cut off the bottom part right where the pocket flaps sit. I did a silk organza overlay on those bottom pieces that I first basted onto the oyster colored poplin before sewing the pieces back together. As I like to roll up my sleeves, I lined the bottom part of the sleeves with the poplin so it shows the oyster color instead of the lining fabric.
I also made the button myself by glueing Swarovski crystals to a plain metal button. It turned out a little bit shiny, but paired with jeans and a simple T it looks good enough to me.
