Burda Style For people who sew
Description
I’m slightly obsessed with Zooey Deschanel so when I started watching New Girl I immediately wanted to make Jess’s red dress from the opening credits.
I used Burda 7739 for the sleeves (which I elongated), 7309 for the bodice (which I also extended by an inch or so), and Simplicity 1873 for the skirt.

Not a problem! :) I think I used just under 2.5 yards for a size 8.

I’m learning how to sew for a major project for school, and I finally found the design I wanted to sew— yours! I was wondering what kind of fabric you used. Do you suggest any?

I used a cotton sateen and I definitely recommend it! It doesn’t stretch so it’s really easy to sew and it’s got a slight sheen which makes it slightly fancier than just plain cotton. Good luck!

Super cute, and I totally understand the obsession: after watching the first episode, I made the same dress! I used Simplicity 2444 (Project Runway), but lengthened it because I’m not 20 years old anymore, and I do like to have the option of bending over at the waist occasionally! ;)
