When my oldest friend (I’ve known her nearly 25 years now) announced she was pregnant last year, I knew I wanted to make her a gift (and unlike my Nana and my mum, my knitting is not up to much – they would be about five before I finished a baby blanket).
Then she announced she was expecting twins so knitting was definitely out.
So I searched my stock of Burda patterns and got some baby jersey towelling and white knit rib and got to work…slowly (good thing pregnancy lasts nine months)
Once I got past the tracing and cutting out stage, it progressed pretty well, apart from the time I spent exclaiming about how cute it was.
Sewing the rib knit around the sleeves was abit of a trial requiring some careful stretching and careful sewing.
The poppers were a lot of fun with a hammer.
I added a duck motif to one and a glittery frog to the other so even though they are identical, there is some difference.
I went to visit Jack and Harrison, who were born on March 25, this week and they are just adorable.
I think it might be a while before they are wearing the overalls, being twins and a bit premature, they are very teeny (Jack, the bigger twin, is only just out of the smallest size of baby clothing) but I’m very excited about watching them grow up.
baby jersey towelling, rib knit, hammer on snaps,
