It was my little nephew Matthew’s 2nd birthday on Wednesday and for some reason he has developed a Spiderman obsession! So I wanted to make him something spiderman related for his birthday! :-)
So I came up with the idea of a drawstring bag for him to carry all his little toys round when he goes to Nans etc. Wandering round ebay looking for some spiderman fabric I discovered a Spiderman cushion cover panel, so decided to buy that and use it as the basis.
I also bought 1/2 meter of blue cotton & 1/2 meter of red cotton and 1 meter of a lovely soft red cording.
I did the back plain red but embroidered his name at the bottom & made a blue casing for the cord. I also lined it as the cover is rather thin and I don’t want the bag to be broken in 5 mins!
Made the cord channel basically as long as the open bag with an inch or so extra in order to make sure the drawstring isn’t long enough to be put round little persons neck – don’t want a strangled nephew on my hands!

1/2 meter of blue cotton
1/2 meter of red cotton
1 meter of soft piping cord

Thanks Harmony – it’s easy to make and Christmas is on the way – perhaps you could make some for your nephews a well! :-)
