Description

Oh man, I’ve been working on this coat on and off for a year and a half – and it’s finally done! (just in time for summer)

This is my first tailored project, and although it took so long, I’m really happy with the result. I made it with the McCall M5525 pattern (Coat E). The only modifications I made were to shorten the length, take it in a the waist a bit, and of course to add white piping around some of the edges.

It made it more difficult (had to re-cut a couple pieces), but I’m really glad I did it. I think it made a big difference!

Thank you! I really like piping too. I’ve been seeing clothes lately where the piping is made with a patterned fabric – it looks so good!

great job, congratulations. I had the same kind of project : a patchwork coat made with old clothes that I have recycled. I have been working on it for 2 years and you feel really proud when it is finished

Yes, definitely! I really wanted it to turn out well, so I only did little bits at a time.

Did you upload a photo of your coat? I didn’t see it under your account.

Such a fantastic coat! You must be really proud of it after working on it for so long. I love the white piping, such a strong contrast to the navy.
