Navy summer suiting shorts

Added Jun 19, 2010

Guelph, Canada

I used the Simplicity 3850 pattern for these shorts. I accidently made them one size too small, so they don’t quite fit me properly. Im hoping that by the end of the summer (after going to the gym 3x weekly), I can finally squeeze into them.

Material Notes

Navy summer suiting

The shorts look great on you, even if they are too small. (: I have one question though, do the shorts go up to your waist or hips? I was thinking about trying out the pattern. (:

Thanks. The pattern says that the shorts are supposed to sit 2" below your waist. I think mine are a little higher, because they’re small and I had to hike them up. I would think that if they were made in the correct size, they would probably fit approximately where the pattern says. Its a fairly easy pattern to use, so I would recommend it. If you do try it, I would love to see your creation.

Thank you! I’ll definitely try them sometime; I’ve always wanted to make shorts. (:

They’re not as bad as I anticipated. This was my first attempt at shorts/pants and they didn’t take that long to complete (considering I make them in small gaps of time between work).

thank you. unfortunately, they dont fit very well -too tight in the hip area, so im going to try this pattern again in several other fabrics and this time, a larger size. i hope they turn out just as well. if it weren’t for the sizing issue, id be really pleased with these shorts.
