Burda Style For people who sew
Description
I made this top and pants to fill the need for some classic (yet special) pieces in my wardrobe that can be worn again and again.
The pants are the Clovers from Colette Patterns which I redrafted a bit to give them a front fly and button/tab closure, side pockets and back welt pockets. I used a dark, medium weight denim with lycra from Mood.
The top is Rachel Comey for Vogue Patterns (V1247) which I made out of ivory silk crepe de chine. The bottom of this shirt is all pieced together on the bias. I usually find working on the bias to be a bit tricky, so I handled these pieces extra gently and let them hang overnight.
I’m really happy with both of these pieces and am excited to mix and match them with my wardrobe!

Material Notes
pants: 2 yards of medium weight stretch denim, jeans 5" zipper, cotton canvas for pockets, tab hook and eye, button, topstitching thread
shirt: 1 3/4 yards silk crepe de chine, thread

the clovers were nice to sew – the pattern as is is really straightforward. i think its worth it though to take the time to get the fit you want, which makes them a bit more of a project!
