I did something today that I never thought I’d do… I sewed my own swimsuit! From scratch! And it turned out ok!
I really had never sewn knits before, so this was entirely new for me. I read through my sewing machine manual, and who knew that my machine had all of the special nifty stitches that work great on stretchy fabric?!?
This pattern is cute, but the instructions were lacking for someone unfamiliar with sewing bathing suits. So I made the instructions up as I went along, and I made some mistakes as well. I ended up adding length to the body of the suit (originally 3 inches, but then it was too long— so probably around 2"), lowering the back, and making the straps longer so they could go in an X on my back.

Thanks for the motivation. I looked at the instructions and doubted myself. It looks great on you and the strap variation is awesome.

I love the back. Fantastic. I made swimwear last year for my kids and this year I made 2 for nieces. It’s not as hard as it seems. Plus, you can make something fun and great with so little fabric.

I loooove the color. It turned out very nice, but although it fits you very well, it seems to minimize your breasts. Is this something you did on purpose?

It looks like that because I have a small chest… and proud of it!
