I used vintage Butterick 7651 for this dress.
Cutting out all of my fabric took at least 3 separate evenings. The skirt is made up of eight gores. Originally it was only 6 gores, but I separated the center front and center back piece (cut on the fold) into 2 separate pieces. I wanted to have a center front seam line in order to create the chevron pattern that would fall in line with the center front of the bodice.
This dress is quite intricate, so if you’re looking for more details please hop on over to my blog: http://zilredloh.com/2012/04/18/butterick-7651-my-nautical-inspired-dress/
Silk fabric, organza for stabilization, bias binding, horsehair braid for hem, etc.
