Again this project was inspired by this nautical top that I bought. This skirt was very simple to make.
It is definitely more suitable for the summer, but I had it in mind when I bought the top and then saw this lace on sale and thought it would make a white skirt a bit more interesting.
Just a lot of rectangles really – thick elasticated waistband, I gathered the lace and cotton together. French seams on both layers and I sewed down the seam on the lace so you could see the seam as a neat detail. The cotton is slightly longer than the lace and the lace is hemmed with bias binding made using Colette’s tip http://www.coletterie.com/tutorials-tips-tricks/continuous-bias-tape-tutorial which I was so impressed with – it makes so much from so little fabric!!
Top stitched in yellow thread to make it even more summery
