Description

I bought this fabric from a creative reuse center in San Francisco called Scrap and thought the color would look great with wooden buttons. So I got to work on a shorts pattern which includes a side zip and button closure and two front pockets also with button closures. These shorts are light and very comfortable on a hot day.

Material Notes

Blue chambray, 3 wooden buttons, and one zipper.

LOVE these! What pattern did you use? I’m not sure how to make a normal shorts pattern into a high-waisted style, your version are perfect.

Thanks! I used a basic shorts pattern, but extended it upward. When you extend the top you want to make sure that it is becoming more narrow. You also want to make sure that the darts make it more narrow since your waistband is going to be smaller. It does take some trial and error… this is my third pair of high-waisted shorts with my pattern and it still needs a few alterations.
