All of the member creations of the Danielle dress on BurdaStyle convinced me that I needed to give the pattern and the square neckline a chance (it’s also hard to resist a free pattern). I especially liked RagDollyy’s version with the lowered back.
For my Danielle, I lowered the back and added an inch overlap on each side for a button closure rather than a zipper. The bodice is fully lined in the same floral cotton and I added pockets to the side seams in a gray cotton. I got the floral cotton from a thrift store and there wasn’t quite enough for the skirt of the Danielle pattern, so I did a simple gathered skirt instead. The pink buttons down the back were also bought secondhand. Thrifted cotton and buttons plus a free pattern make for an inexpensive dress.

Love your version – I really don’t like the back of the original Danielle pattern and love the way you have changed it. Also like the gathering at the front instead of the harsh pleats! Nice job!
