Jen from Grainline recently released her Kat Colorblock Dress Pattern, which I purchased and got to work on straight away. (visit http://grainlinestudio.com/ for the pattern!)
My Kat is made from natural cotton which I tie dyed with two shades of blue and pearl gray before cutting out my pattern pieces.
This was my first try at using boning in a bodice, and guess what? It’s super easy! And it makes your garment look very well made in the end. I also used french seams for neatness, an invisible zip up the back, and strips of lace ribbon on the inside of the bodice for hanging it up.
I highly recommend this pattern. It is well written, easy to follow, and leaves you with a fancy dress to add to your collection. It even made my tie dye look fancy! I had a really fun time making this dress.

Handmade tie dye cotton, boning, invisible zipper, lace ribbon, natural cotton for the lining.

very pretty! i love the dyeing you did to the fabric – it adds even more visual interest to the tucks at the bottom of the skirt.

This looks so nice, and I also adore your dress on the inside! It’s very well made and those lace-loops and your own tag are the last touch!
