I’ve had my eye on the JJ blouse pattern since I joined Burda a couple of months ago and I can finally say that I’ve used it. This dress was created using the basic pattern with a few alterations:
I lengthened it to make it a dress rather than a blouse.
I decided to not add the ruffles this time around, although I’d love to try another time with them.
Instead of putting a band on the arm, I added elastic to give it a ruffled look.
The fabric I used is a cotton and silk mix which was a bit of a splurge, but it feels so nice! And I love the pattern on the fabric! And I finally made a dress that isn’t blue! It’s all so exciting!

hey Natty! I just caught this project and was wondering if you made this by lengthening the jj pattern at the legthening/shortening lines indicated on the pattern and add a little Aline to the bottom?? I have wanted a shirt dress for a while now and I absolutely adore yours!!
I just hope I can find a fabric as gorgeous as yours!!

Hello GinaSophia!
Thanks for the nice comment! For this dress I kept the jj pattern whole (didn’t cut at the lengthening lines), added some newsprint to the bottom, and extended the lines. The center lines were easy because they were straight. The outer lines have the curve at the waist so I put my straight edge down after the curve and then extended the line (this gives an a line shape). I hope this makes sense. Let me know if you need any clarification!

Oh yes, that was definitely worth the splurge. Good effort! I think I need one of those in my wardrobe for the summer (if it ever reaches London that is!!).
