Description

I was asked to make some doll nappies for the grand-daughter of a lady I know. I used the free Mamabird pattern that I got off the internet 5 years ago when I was expecting my first baby (the pattern is now available from her blog for a nominal fee).
The nappies consist of 2 layers- 1 of a cute print or embroidered cotton and one of terry toweling (to give them a bit of body). They fasten with velcro because that is easier for little children to manipulate than snaps.
I think these would probably also work for a newborn as is (they would need a cover) but they would be better with the internal soaker pad that is included in the pattern.

I also made matching bibs. The little girl loved them and her grandmother asked me for a copy of the pattern so she could make more of them.

How adorable, any little girl will love playing dress up with her doll with these cute nappies.

I hadn’t sewn for a doll for years! but once I started it was a bit addictive (hence the bibs). In a couple of years my daughters dolls will need a whole wardrobe of clothes… My Mum wasn’t a sewer so I had to make do with the clothes the dolls came in.

What a great idea, the plastic ones that you can buy for dolls only last for a day or so… these are nice and durable. Will make a set for my daugthers doll asap :O)
