Description

We want to make a vintage collection with slim and full skirt dresses, so I tried to realize another draft from apfelebluete, who is already known as my ‘BurdaStyle sewing partner’. Here it is, the Nadja #2 which I made for my daughter who wore it on her end- of- course dance.
Oh my – at first I thought this could be a simple and quick project but at the end I met a real personal challenge which I mastered only in parts. Finally I made a two-piece dress. I am most proud of the skirt – I LOVE the skirt – and I like the collar but I am NOT perfectly satisfied with the bodice part. Next time I am going to do it perfect… in another sewing life… after finishing all the other things on my to-do list.
We shot the photos again in our next-door palace garden.
I have a good mind to make some tutorials concerning the collar or the skirt with its shaped waistband but I still don’t find enough time.

I like it a lot; but I have a question about the skir: is it a “teller rock” or does it consist of rectangles that were gahtered??? I´d love to make such a skirt ( or dress) but I am still not sure which technique I should use; I also thought about a combination of boath…

    best regards from vienna.a.

      hello vienna! ;)
This skirt is not a circular skirt. It is just a one gathered (1:2,75) rectangle. The petticoat is a one layer.

I definitely recommend a petticoat to wear underneath!

Congratulations! I really like it – it looks very authentic vintage, and what’s most important – your daughter looks very happy about it! Hey, I don’t think I have ever made anything that I couldn’t have done better a second time around, but you are at a level where the end result is perfectly fine also after the first try!

Thanks ajtak! I like it a lot to be showered with compliments! :-)))
I am really in love with this skirt and its outcome and I am also pleased with the collar, as I said before. Nevertheless the bodice is still bothering me.
By the way: I searched at ebay for the ‘Vobachs Neue Moden’… may be there is an idea which I I could pick up from the magazin to create a vintage bodice part. We’ll see!

Your daughter looks beautifull in this apple-green dress! I love the result and would immediately start to sew, but as you got it right: time is nowhere to find…
