Don’t you just love Zooey Deschanel? Recently I watched 500 Days of Summer (again) and I end it up sewing myself a dress :) The truth is, whenever I see a picture of Zooey I want to sew a dress! Isn’t it magical?
Anyhow, this is the end product. I used a Burda magazine pattern, with some minor (and obvious) changes. The bodice is lined with the most soft, orange silk in the world (recently I sew a prom dress for a friend, so the silk is a leftover). About all the horrors of working with silk some other time. But let me tell ya, it was dreadful!
Although lovely the dress seemed a little bit boring, so I did some decorative stitching on sash. The petticoat is also made by me, back in January.
I do hope you like it! I was going for everyday Zooey look, but when my friend saw it she said it reminds her of Jacky Kennedy. The be honest, I’m fine with both of them :)
cotton blend, silk for lining and an invisible zipper.
