This was my first dress, I used a bargain fabric I found for a dollar per yard. I’m pretty happy with how it turned out.

Thanks everyone, and macanini to make the wide belt I just cut a wide piece all the way across the width of my fabric, sewed into a ribbon, turned and pressed with a steam iron.
