I modified a pattern (with help from a friend) and designed/made this for my wedding because I wanted a silk gown, but didn’t want to pay thousands of dollars for it. There were hours of hand sewing in this dress – a hand-picked zipper, much of the lining was hand stitched to the bodice. The rosettes were all hand sewn. The hem on the dress took a full day itself! Though it was a huge job, it was worth it and I loved my gown! It was very unique to me and allowed me to really express myself on my special day.

Wai-Ching.com inspired me
My friend, Jane, helped me alter the pattern, ease in the princess seam and with some of the ruching. My mom helped me hem the dress – it took over 4 hours with both of us hunched over – ouch!

This reminds me of the summer I spent making my daughters wedding dress…. from no pattern no less lol. She wanted a low back and a blue material underneath her train. I worked endlessly on this project but in the end it was so unique and really beautiful. I love how you used the red! You did such a great job on this. It’s truly special and unique.

Oh you look beautiful! You look like Kate Winlet too! Or like Jane Austin even! Very beautiful pop of color!

What can I say? It’s so pretty. And so unique. The colours are so well chosen for you, the perfectly matching shoes and the matching details on your fathers and husbands suit. Just a stupid question: What are these green things hanging from your hand? Are they a bag? They look so nice, maybe you could add a closeup picture of them?
And to all the women getting married some time soon: Make your own wedding dress! And post the pictures here!

Wow, what an amazing dress and such a perfect way to make your special day all that more so! I am engaged with plans to marry next year and I have been tossing around the idea of making my gown for the very same reason that it makes it so much more special and unique. The incredible job you’ve done has inspired my confidence and I think I may have to consider it much more seriously. Well done, really, you look amazing and I hope the day was as perfect for you as your lovely dress. Best of luck for the future xoxo
