I always liked Chinese brocade. I mean a girl has to like this fabric – it is gorgeous, lustrous and beautifully ornamented. But it seems to be only used in Chinese cut dresses. I found this Empire dress pattern in Burda’s Easy Fashion F/W 2006 and decided to try it with the brocade. The fabric was a bit too stiff for the pattern but after I sewed weights into the hem the dress was falling okay. Now I have my own princess dress!

das ist mit Sicherheit die eleganteste Art zu renovieren, und eine coole Prinzessin packt auch mit an… das Kleid ist wundervoll und die Photos gefallen mir auch sehr!

Wow! The fit is amazing on you, it looks so well made. Beautiful colour of the fabric, stunning clean lines to the dress, and finished with that sumptuous bow…perfect!

great dress! beautiful job- and very good idea to weight the hem! It does look like Danielle. I love your bow. So, are these the things you avoided while you were sewing, and now that you’ve finished, you need to work on them? ;-) great pics :)

I’m with you concerning Chinese brocades – crazy about them. This dress looks so cute on you, and I love the big sash. The outfit looks amazingly complete with the yellow gloves. . . maybe you should make a pair of opera gloves to wear with this dress. I’m serious. That top photo gives you an updated Jane Austen era look.
