This is my Traveller’s Bag, made from Merita’s pattern. It’s a wonderful bag to make! I can fit heaps of stuff in it for uni. I lined it, added inside pockets and used herringbone strapping to make the straps. I really wanted to use chunky metal zipper instead of a plastic one, but they only sold really short ones for jeans at home.

I salvaged this cotton twill from Red Cross - $2 for about 3 metres. According the label, it had ‘2 small holes along its length’. This provided some amusement at home, because when unfolded there were actually about six rather large rectangles cut right out in the middle. Weird, but funny! I think I’ll make a yoga bag out of the rest.

it’s a beautiful bag, it seems big enough and also very light, which is important. I don’t mind plastic zipper this time ’cause it fits with the colour. good work, I love it!

Thanks! I had one really good day where I found about 10 metres of fabric in total. Ever since then I haven’t found a single scrap :(
