Tikva trench with polka dot lining.
Wine / Berry colored Chicago fabric, silver and magenta polka dot lining, and satin silver buckle. I added an interior pocket and coat hook loop for functionality.

I love your coat! You said it was Chicago fabric, but what kind exactly? After seeing yours, I’m now in love with this and want to make one for the upcoming spring.

It’s a waterproof cotton blend called “Chicago” I went to the fabric store and asked for something that would be great for trench coat or rain coat. They led me to this. I love it, it was a great fabric to work with!!

That is beautiful, your sewing is perfect!! Can i be dead cheeky and ask a question? Do you think it’s possible to make this coat with a quilted lining or maybe it won’t take it?

Thanks a lot!!! Eeeep…. Probably a light quilted lining, but I think with anything too heavy you’ll lose your the form and draping of the coat. You could probably give the bodice a heavier lining than the skirt, though, since it’s more tailored. With that method, I don’t think that you’d lose too much shape on the top. The lining was rather simple to make, and the top and bottom were completely separate, so you could give it a try and change it out if it doesn’t work. The toughest part of the lining was getting it sewn onto the cuffs.
Anything else just let me know!!! – Nat

Thanks so much for your advice, sorry for my slow response, (i’ve been on a knitting franzy!) i really want to make this. Unfortunately this one’s on hold for the time being. my brother wants a suit and my sister now wants a wedding dress. In my opinion yours is the best made version i’ve seen made up. even better than the burda one

Wow…this is fantastic!!! I have the pattern, but haven’t made it yet.
The tailoring is great…what other alterations to the pattern did you do? It looks so much better than the original design!

I made the belt a thicker belt, added a second button, and I took in the sides above the waist about an inch on each side (from the side seams) because I thought it was a little too loose on me. Other than that, I followed the pattern.
Good luck with yours! Let me know when you post it :)

Thanks everyone for your kind words!!! If I get any pics of myself wearing it, I’ll post them. By the time I finished it I only got to wear the coat for about a week before it got too cold out, but it was one amazing week! :D
