A friend of mine got married on Sydney Harbour in late May, i spent the month before making my dress whilst finishing my masters and working full time- so i felt rushed!!!
I decided to make something a little bit unusual and fun for the occasion, purchasing a vintage pattern- McCalls 5770. The assistant at the local fabric shop convinced me on the teal organza- i loved the colour! I used a silk for the top and belt.
I decided to change the neckline from the pattern, and attach sleeves- the sleeves didnt work out how i planned, but i didnt have time to redo them.
Overall i was pretty happy with the dress, it was super fun to wear and i received heaps of compliments, which is always lovely!
Material Notes
Organza, silk, belt buckle. Not sure what the material was for the petticoat- but it was shiny!

This is so cute. Very vintage looking, and by the way I like the textured tights!

Hi Natski, I love your version of this dress and the fabric/colour combination. It looks beautiful on you. I actually had added this pattern to my favourites on Etsy, but it was sold before I had the chance to buy it. I guess I’ll have to have a go at making it without the pattern. Fab job!
