I made this dress a few years ago and it’s been my summer staple ever since! It’s the sort of thing I can just throw on without even thinking, I just love that.
The dress is actually a refashion – I made it out of the store bought skirt that I never wore. I don’t have the before pictures but the skirt was just a huge rectangle gathered onto a smaller rectangular piece that was going around the hips. A bit odd look, guess that’s why I never wore it. But I loved the print so I decided to try and give it a new life. I just ripped the two parts apart, luckily there was enough of fabric to cut the bodice pieces out of the smaller one and then I sewed the lower skirt part back onto it. To keep it from being too short I added a waist piece out of some red rayon I had leftover from my scalloped skirt . All in all, I love how it turned out!
Dress is made with pattern #118 from Burda 06/2010. I love this pattern, I already made two dresses with it and I plan to use it again. I love how it fits, it’s perfect for a smaller bust. And it’s perfect for the hot summer days as well! Hope you’ll like it :)
