Description

Here is my Mila!

Mila was not super easy to make because of the insert, which I found to be way too low. If you look at the Mila on the model, you can see that some of her bra sticks out, so I would definitely extend the top of the insert. In this case, I did not, so I added a button so my bra doesn’t show. The colour scheme reminded me of sailing, so I used a cute anchor button.

An additional tip I would add for all sewing novices is to make sure that the neckline fabric is at least 5 inches shorter than the neckline itself, and then ease the neckline to make everything fit. This ensures that the dress will sit flat against your body because the neckline pulls the dress in towards your body. I made the mistake of making it all the same length, and then had to pull it all out. Yes, I actually considered not doing it, but I am so glad I put in the extra time and effort because I love wearing my Mila. This dress took about 10 hours to make, but that’s because I am just a novice still.

well, I made it too, and I had a hard time while sewing it but ended up fine. The thing is that I just don’t like it anymore. So.. there it is… hanging on the closet.. maybe sometime I’ll upload the pics. Mine is made of green liberty flowers cotton and cream linen.

I’ve had the pattern printed out for nearly a year and still haven’t made it. I just can’t find a color scheme that I like, but I really like your’s! The picture makes it look like black, but I’m guessing it’s a dark blue? I keep thinking I want to make it in a print, but I just haven’t found something I know I would actually wear. That’s what I need to do are solid colors! I also really like how you exposed the clasps down the front. Adds so much more interest!

Yes, it’s dark blue, I like this colour combo too, and, well, reminds me of sailing :) . The exposed clasps were actually a mistake! That’s what happens when I read the instructions half-heartedly.
