I wanted so much to sew a corset… it was like an obsession :) but I couldn’t find a pattern so I made the pattern following the corset from my wedding dress. That one was not elastic so mine came a bit too big and I had to remove two parts from the back. It fits now :)

Hi! I was so excited when I saw this corset that looked like an easy and fun piece to sew.. But when I opened the pdf-file it seemed as though some parts were missing in the file, perhaps I’m mistaken. It says “sew piece 1 and 2 together” and that’s when I got confused, where’s piece 1 and 2 and 3 and so on… I’m not supposed to guess how to draw and cut out the pieces for the corset myself am I, or is this a pattern… hope you answer!! :)

Hi! You have to download the “Print Pattern at Home” .pdf file and you find the pieces there, you print it and paste pages together. The pieces are numbered there. Hope you’ll figure it out! Good luck and I can’t wait to see your corset!

Thats elastic denim? no way! what other elastic fabrics would you recommend? and does it have lining? this pattern is exactly what I’m looking for- plain and simple without all the complicating hooks and stuff.

Yes, it is a thin elastic denim :) although I’m not good at recognizing the materials. It doesn’t have lining, but you could add it if you like, I found it much easier without lining :)
I was thinking about making two corsets with this pattern and combining them into one two-sided corset.
I guess you could even use elastic lace and add some cups inside (I’ve seen some bridal gowns with such a lace corset) or maybe jersey. I think you could try something non elastic too.
I would have used eyelets, but didn’t have them so I did what I could…
Can’t wait to see your corset finished! Good luck!

First thanks for the pattern.. it’s always difficult to find corset patterns.. Secondly, this project has no eyelets or hooks, has it? I wonder if the pattern would work also with more stiff fabrics, like those for more “traditional” corsets..

You’re welcome! Well I didn’t use eyelets or hooks… I couldn’t find eyelets at the time, but otherwise I would use eyelets on everything :) I’m a fan :) You can alter the patter to use them if you like, it’s not so difficult.
Actually as you can see the pattern is quite simple, it’s not meant for many layers of fabric, as the fancy “traditional” corsets are (the real corsets) :) You can give it a try with more stiff fabric, I think it should work, but if it’s not elastic you might have to add some more pieces. Good luck!

I was wondering, maybe that’s stupid but anyway: about the boning, do you buy a bunch of it and then you have to cut it the way you want it or do you buy it already folded tha way you need it, but then how do you know before sewing it? Thanks :)

It depends on the boning you use. I bought a bunch of boning (2 meters long 1 cm wide) and then I cut it the length I needed :)

Hi, In school we’re going to design clothes this year and I’d love to do this design, but the problem is I’ve never worked with patterns before, could you please explain to me how it’s done? Thanks Liesa

I love it! You are goood samaritan, hehe, I especially love corsets and gothic fashion, so this is a miracle for me. Last year I have bought pattern for corsets, but I’m not satisfied with it, because it’s not as long as yours, so, thank you very much =)

I used plastic boning, flat, 1 cm wide, bought it from a regular sewing store, about 2 meters or so
