My daughter had grown out of her party dress, but the full skirt material was beautiful. I saw Angela Kane’s Denim Pinafore dress and adjusted the pattern for the little material I had. The pattern was easy to adjust because it was a classic shape. I chopped off the straps at the front using a ribbon as a halter neck. At the back made it lower and straight across. The bodice needed making shorter and narrower and I adjusted these as per Angela’s excellent video instructions. I used many small pieces of material which I joined where the darts would be. I put the zip at the side. I then lined it. I have left a little bit of growing room, hoping it will last till Autumn!
The material was from an old Party Dress.

Hello Raymed,
Thank you for making up my pattern and linking it to my project. I love what you have done. This is exactly how I feel about sewing and my attempt to spread the word. Adapting and using the resources you have. You don’t need fancy patterns, just a few basics and a some good ideas.
I’m sending you an email about free membership to my site for one year. It’s a pleasure. I hope your daughter will be encouraged to sew too.
