Description

This was my biggest project this winter.
I always coveted a Chanel jacket. I can’t afford a real one, but I figured I can make a look-a-like!
It is knit flat, bottom-up, in 4 separate pieces. The mock pockets flaps are also knit separately and sewn onto the finished jacket. I especially like the buttons: they are vintage, and they remind me so much of the Chanel logo…

    Hi Lia

The only Golf yarn I can find is made by Lang ( I got some from Ireland) but it is a very fine cotton and the recommended needle sizes range from 4-6US. I tried it with the needle sizes you mentioned and it was too hole-y and lacey. I guess the yarn you used was by a different manufacturer and was thicker? Do you know of any similar yarns that I can use? Thanks

      Hi Maureen!
Don’t try to find that exact yarn – I’m in Israel and that yarn was an import from Turkey…
Most chances you have access to much better yarns. Just look for something aran-weight, that will give you a similar gauge.
The 39sts for one front piece measure 22.5cm wide, so the gauge is 17sts = 10cm / 4 inch.
Feel free to send me a personal message if you need any help.

Love this jacket! Is it made using US 10 or US 8 ? You list both but I’m not sure which needles are used for which bit. Hope you can help!

      Hi Maureen and thank you!
The sweater is knit on 6mm needles (US #10).
The “pocket” flap were knit on 5mm (US #8).
If you enter the link, it is in detail in my comments too.

Is it possible to have the pattern for this. I have been looking everywhere for a chanel type jacket and just love this one.

      Thanks, Gwenstella!
Actually, It’s surprisingly easy. The pattern is worked with one color at a time, so it’s much easier than it looks! Read inside the link at the bottom.

It’s really amazing! At first I didn’t realize it was knitted, but after reading the description and looking closer on the pictures… It is so unique… you are so lucky to be able to knit like this! Looks very chic!
