Description

The overnight bag I was using as my handbag (a neccesity I assure you) died a horrible, painful death through over use, so I decided to make my own, it was great for a while, however my inept sewing skills was the death of it. Practice makes perfect though! Eventually I will make a bag which will last despite my sewing skills!

Material Notes

I used the cheapest silk/satin I could find for the lining and a cotton for the outer, next time I think a much stronger material would be better, I feel more of a canvas type material would be best for hand/pvernight bags however part of sewing is being creative and experimenting with different fabrics! :)

think worked it out… cut 4 separate pieces, join them together C to C…D to D and E to E… the A to B part is the corners at the side bottom of the bag and the unmarked side is the top opening. you are looking at 1/4 of the pattern and could cut side E on the fold, C is the sides…hope this helps.

Wow! I didn’t realise anyone had commented on this!
So sorry for the belated reply!!! I think you have nailed it, but just in case this was my thinking…

Okay, so you want to sew A and B together which will form a corner of the bag,
(and one quarter of it). Next you want to sew side C to side C on the piece
which matches up with its corners (so you want to sew the left and right hand sides together at join C)
Side D will be the bottom seam in your bag, and side E will be the middle joint seam to join your two halves together.

I hope these instructions are a little better than my original ones! I promise to keep an eye on comments this time!

Could you be a love and give us more instructions? The picture tells me I’d like to make one.
