I saw this wonderful free pattern Sarah Hat, and decided that I must get a cool newsboy style cap of my own. This is the first ever project that I have done at burdastyle.com and I just discovered this site last week.
I had the right fabric for this at home, and decided to go for it. The cutting of fabrics and sewing and finishing took altogether about 5-6 hours of time. I didn’t quite like and/or understand the instructions for creating the free end of the band with triangular end, however I invented a few new steps there which make more sense to me… and my band look totally finished and nice now. I attached a few photos of those steps, I hope they will help someone out.
Completely out of scrap material, price total 0€. The sefl fabric is very thick and soft cotton flannel that was left over from trousers I sew last year. The lining fabric was left over from livingroom curtains project. Even the buttons I happened to have lying around, as well as the thick wool felt that I used to support the flap.
