Burda Style For people who sew

Anchors away!
I just barely managed to squeeze this skirt out of an old remnant of duchesse satin from my stash. I didn’t have enough for the waistband facings, so I cut up an old white bedsheet and used some heavy interfacing to make it hold the shape.
The ribbon on the hem was equally a design-feature as a way to recue the hem , as I found it next to impossible to hem the skirt invisibly. I like it though, as it gives to skirt a preppy/nautical feeling, that I really, really like.
The pattern is from Burda EasyFasion S/S 2009, but I had to shorten it 2 cm because of fabric shortage.
Material Notes
duchesse satin in a dusty rose color, a white bedsheet, invisible zipper, black satin ribbon in 2 widths, thread (white for construction, black for the ribbon), interfacing.
