I bought an offcut of flock printed pink tweed months ago, already thinking it would be nice for a Marie skirt. Now, I finally got around to making it. I only used the front piece of the Marie pattern and made my own, slightly deeper waistband, a smooth back with darts and a small slit. I also put in a lining, which ment I got to fit a lining at a slit for the first time. It worked out in the end and I’m quite happy with the result.

love the fabric, very Laura Ashley and the pleats hang beatifully. I’m looking for examples of the ‘marie’ without the back pleats, so glad it worked out well for others also!

Beautiful! Again with that professional finish I like so much about your creations. I also like your alterations – much better than the original. I might have a go on a Marie in your version myself.
