On Tuesday, I woke up and decided that I was going to sew my very first garment! This impulsion came out pretty cute, I think :) My mother gave me some thrifted linen fabric, and after three hours and much help from Alden, your friendly Community Manager, I proudly held up my very first pair of handmade shorts.
I love this pattern because it has a slight vintage feel, and was pretty easy to make. I’ve already gotten a few requests from various friends (those freeloaders), but will probably make a few pair just for myself before summer’s out :)

Hey David,
I love your shorts! I’m wanting to make a large pair. How much fabric do you think i will need to do this? Thank you very much. Amy

Thank you, Amy!
The pattern instructions call for 1/2 yard (46 cm) of the outside fabric and 1/2 yard (46cm) for the inside netting, although I did not put netting in my version.
Good luck!

Thank you! I made a medium, but I should have made a small. They were much bigger than I anticipated.

Fresh. Can I assume that you opted not to make a mesh lining?
