Description

I. Love. Pirates, end of.

I also like doing art, so for my 18th birthday i staged my Cindy Sherman style photoshot under a facade of party, and cmon who turns down fancy dress!?I brought the fabric on ebay, as stores can be exxpeeensivo!! I have this habbit of looking at clothes and deconstructing them in y mind and thats how i learn mainly. I used 4 layers of fabric to make the corset to give it strength and structure without any boning. I used a lovely scrap piece of red velvet fabric (i always recycle my fabric they will never be useless) folded in half, slightly too big so it would drap slightly. I added a halterneck strap out of a black belt i stripped and plaited.

The skirt was inspired by British bunting so i made a simple circle skirt ourt of an old curtain cut my triangles and stitched row after row. Then to add some authenticity i hand frayed every single one until i was sick of triangles!! It came in handy again when Will and Kate got married, i was the ultimate street party fan, i wore the decorations!!!! The Queen should be proud :D

Material Notes

I used about 2-3metres of union jack fabric (i brought 5 as i love and have a fair bit left over)
Old curtains were fab lining and interfacing
Need something to make a strap
Zip (this time it was the right colour:D)
