Description

This is my kind of number 10. Classy and simple, yet unique.

I have combined a Simplicity pattern for a dress with simple pleats, front yoke and flat sleeves and a rose cut out pattern I found in Burda style magazine.

In fact, I was so inspired by the Moschino collection dress published in Burda, I decided to make it as soon as possible.

The pattern itself purports to be a 50s dress made modern. I have used it before for my Jubilee dresses in John Kaldor fabric.

I purchased the vintage fabric off ebay, and I can guarantee it is much heavier and better quality than the polycotton. Still a summer fabric rather than wool gingham. It was definitely a very good choice.

For the cut out roses I used a stretch cotton I purchased from Fenwicks. I copied the pattern and used bondaweb to attach them to the dress piece by piece. A lot of work involved, however well worth it!

I did make a heavier red belt, however I decided to keep it thin and minimal.

Overall, I am extremely pleased with the result, it is definitely a wearable project I am extremely proud of. Without the hefty price tag of a Moschino designer dress.

Thank you Burda magazine for the brilliant idea!

Other notions:
Handbag: Karen Millen; Watch: Karen Millen; sandals: no name, off ebay; fabric: vintage gingham.
