I made quite a few modifications to make this pattern work for me, although I tried to keep the feel and style of Kasia’s great design intact. I eliminated the inner front skirt panel and replaced it with side yoke pieces and a pocket, opting for no gathers. I sewed the front panel all the way up to the waistband and put a zipper in the back. Since I didn’t use contrasting fabric for the yokes I added piping to show off the front line of the original design . I also made the waistband about 30% narrower. I’m big busted and, although I love the look of high-waisted skirts and pants, on me they look like I just built a pedestal for my boobs! On the back I eliminated the yoke altogether and made a fancy little kick pleat in place of the slit.

Thank you all so much for the nice complements. I wish you could feel the fabric, too. It’s really smooth and floaty. It feels wonderful. Believe it or not, I found it on a sale table at Hancock Fabrics (a chain store here in the states)! What luck. I had just decided to join the sew-along and thought I might go for something fun and casual, but this fabric I could not resist!

I think this fabric was the perfect choice for the Kasia skirt. It is absolutely to die for! :) Was it from your stash, or did you recently purchase it?
