My Joan Holloway Jenny

This is my first attempt at a BurdaStyle pattern and I couldn’t be happier. I have had several attempts at a high waisted skirt this month and this one makes me feel like a 60s office bombshell. Kudos Jenny, kudos!

I had a bit of trouble with the sizing and once I had made and altered my muslins this worked a treat.

My poor old serger had a needle snap halfway through and my replacements were incorrect so I improvised with some bias binding to finish the seams. It looks like a magical watermelon inside!

I’ll definitely be trying this again- I’m thinking it may be time for suspenders!

further information about the fitting and making process can be found on my blog:

Material Notes

Cotton twill (black)
Acetate lining (tea rose)
Bias binding (lime green)

Thanks Claudinka! It is such a fabulous skirt but I must admit that getting the right fit was really quite challenging. Now I have a template though- game on! Best of luck :D

I love that skirt! Have to check out your page for more information. I want to make a pencil skirt, too, but know that getting it to the right fit will be a challenge.
